This Gleevec is a great medicine but what nobody talks about is what it costs. My grandmother has just been told that she will take this the rest of her life and it’s $2,873.15 a month. Novartis gave her first month free and we are hoping that she will be approved to get it free for a year but what about after that. Even if she goes on Medicare Part D, she will have to pay a little over $3,000 out of pocket. Like we all have that sitting around. We haven’t even been able to worry about her having cancer for having to worry about how to pay for the medicine. If anyone has any insight, please let me know.
