Imatinib should continue to be the front?line therapy for patients who have newly diagnosed chronic myelogenous leukemia accompanied by close monitoring. Patients should switch to a second?generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor at the earliest sign of resistance or suboptimal response to imatinib. (Source: Cancer)
